  3. A study published in The Atlantic Monthly (Oct 2004) found that in the ten years following the passage of no-fault divorce, domestic abuse dropped by 36 percent for cases involving males assaulting females, and by 24 percent for those involving females assaulting males.
  4. Domestic violence is four times more common in families of police officers and military personnel than in the general population.

Domestic Violence   

Domestic violence tends to be a pattern of behavior used by one person in a relationship to control the other. Domestic violence is not limited to any specific socioeconomic, ethnic, racial, or religious group, and same-sex abuse among intimates is just as prevalent as abuse among heterosexual intimates. The most frequently reported type of domestic violence is physical abuse such as hitting, punching, pushing, arm-twisting, biting, and use of a weapon.
