The debate between the scientific community and those who oppose animal experimentation involves some very difficult questions. Animal rights activists believe those who use animals experimentally for science and other research, even though responsibly, should realize their work treats animals as objects without rights. Others would counter this by saying their work is essential to our way of life and to human health and well-being, and that there is no real substitute for animal experimentation
